Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive Compulsive disorder(OCD) are the two most common neuropsychiatric disease .Both ADHD and OCD are heritable. When you have ADHD the issue is that your brain is having low level of chemical called dopamine but when you have OCD the issue is that your brain has too much of chemical called serotonin. In some cases people will have both ADHD and OCD means that you have inattention and hyperactivity with compulsion or obsessions of OCD.

 Symptoms of ADHD are:

  • Inattentive
  • Impulsivity
  • Poor time management
  • Poor internal supervision
  • Short attention span
  • Difficulty in learning from past errors
  • disorganization

Symptoms of OCD are:

  • Fear of Germs and dirts
  • Need things in order
  • Anxiety
  • Doubt
  • Contamination
  • Rigid rules

Both share some same symptoms some have mistaken as they have some connections .It has found that both ADHD and OCD leads problem with prefrontal cortex region of the brain. Here OCD is associated with overactivity in this prefrontal region and ADHD is associated with lower activity in this region. If we combine both ADHD and OCD a proper diagnosis is difficult because treatment plans for both differs. Taking an example Ritalin a common ADHD medication makes OCD symptoms worse. ADHD and OCD are different but people can have both ADHD and OCD. If you have ADHD there is  chance of having OCD than some who is not having ADHD.

But don’t be panic or tensed. Both can be treated.
